Have You Ever Wondered Why Leaves Change Color?

As you stroll around the city in the fall you will notice all the beautiful gold, reds, and oranges that decorate the trees. You may have wondered why leaves change their colors before they fall away.

As the days get shorter, the trees produce less chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is responsible for making leaves green. Less chlorophyll production means less green and more other color pigments making their way through the leaf. We are left with a beautiful color show every fall as a result.

Central Park Is the Place to Be in the Fall

Central Park is home to over 18,000 trees of different species. In the fall, these trees really put on a show. It is the perfect place for a stroll or a hike and to take in all the beauty that nature has to offer. It is also a great place for photo opportunities for the family.
