Events
Visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum (September 11th)
The 9/11 Memorial and Museum stands as a moving tribute to the lives lost and the resilience of New Yorkers. Visitors can walk the twin reflecting pools, each nearly an acre in size, and explore exhibits inside the museum that tell the story of that day and its lasting impact. With interactive displays, personal artifacts, and firsthand accounts, the museum offers a deeply emotional and educational experience. It’s a solemn but essential stop when visiting the city.
Commemoration Ceremony at Memorial Plaza (September 11th)
On the morning of September 11, family members of victims will gather for the 24th Anniversary Commemoration at the Memorial Plaza to read aloud the names of those who were lost during one of the most tragic days in American history. During the ceremony, six separate moments of silence take place that mark the time when each of the World Trade Center towers were struck and fell, as well as the Pentagon attack and the crash of Flight 93. Attending after the ceremony allows you to join thousands of others in quiet reflection, standing in the same space where resilience and unity are remembered each year.
View the Tribute in Light (September 11th)
Arguably the most iconic 9/11 tradition, the Tribute in Light is an art installation that was first presented 6 months after September 11th, and became an annual tradition. The installation is made up of 88 powerful 7,000-watt xenon bulbs arranged in two 48-foot squares, mirroring the shape of the Twin Towers. Running from dusk to dawn on September 11, it serves as a breathtaking symbol of remembrance and hope for New Yorkers. No matter where you view it from, it’s one of the most extraordinary sights in New York each year.

Over the course of 11 days from September 11th through the 21st, the neighborhood fills with food stalls, live music, parades, games, and contests like the famous cannoli-eating competition. With its mix of old-world charm, bustling vendors, and string lights glowing overhead, the festival is one of the city’s most festive and flavorful street fairs—and a true taste of New York Italian heritage.
